Editorial Process

The editorial process for the OpenSciPrex preprint server ensures that submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous and efficient evaluation while maintaining the principles of transparency and open science. Below is an outline of the key steps in our editorial process:

Submission

  • Online Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts via the Open Preprint Systems (OPS) platform. During submission, authors must ensure their manuscripts adhere to the Author Guidelines.
  • Initial Check: Upon submission, the manuscript undergoes an initial check by the editorial office to ensure it meets the basic formatting and submission requirements.

Screening and Evaluation

  • Editorial Screening: The editorial team performs a preliminary review to check the manuscript's relevance to the preprint server's scope, adherence to ethical standards, and overall quality.
  • Plagiarism Check: The manuscript is subjected to plagiarism detection software to ensure originality. Manuscripts with significant plagiarism are rejected immediately.
  • Administrative Rejection: If the manuscript does not meet the necessary criteria or falls outside the scope of the preprint server, it may be administratively rejected. Authors are notified promptly with reasons for rejection.

Acceptance and Posting

  • Acceptance Decision: If the manuscript passes the initial screening, it is accepted for posting on the preprint server.
  • Final Check: Once the manuscript meets all the requirements, a final check is performed to ensure compliance with formatting and ethical guidelines.
  • Preparation for Posting: The manuscript is formatted for the preprint server, including any supplementary materials, figures, and tables.
  • Public Posting: The final version of the manuscript is posted on the OpenSciPrex preprint server, making it publicly accessible. Authors receive a DOI for their preprint and can share their work with the broader scientific community.
  • Free Service: The OpenSciPrex preprint server is free for authors and does not charge any Article Processing Charges (APC).

Post-Publication

  • Post-Publication Feedback: OpenSciPrex encourages post-publication feedback and commentary from the scientific community to foster ongoing discussion and improvement of the research.
  • Corrections and Updates: Authors can submit corrections or updates to their preprint if new data or errors are identified. Such changes are reviewed by the editorial team before being posted.
