Author Guidelines
The Journal of Innovations in Internal Medicine (JIIM) welcomes submissions that contribute to advancements in the field of internal medicine. To ensure a smooth submission and review process, please follow these guidelines carefully when preparing your manuscript.
1. Manuscript Types
The journal accepts the following types of manuscripts:
- Original Research Articles: Reports on novel research with significant clinical or scientific implications. Typically 3,000 to 6,000 words.
- Review Articles: Comprehensive reviews of existing literature in a specific area of internal medicine. Typically 5,000 to 8,000 words.
- Clinical Case Studies: Detailed reports of clinical cases that present unique insights or unusual presentations of diseases. Typically 1,500 to 3,000 words.
2. General Formatting
- Language: Manuscripts must be written in English. Authors are encouraged to have their manuscripts professionally edited if English is not their first language.
- Font and Spacing: Use Times New Roman, 12-point font, with 1.5 line spacing throughout the document.
- Margins: Use 1-inch margins on all sides.
- Page Numbers: Ensure pages are numbered consecutively in the bottom-right corner.
- Footnotes: Footnotes should be avoided. All necessary explanations or additional information should be integrated into the main text.
3. Structure of the Manuscript
Manuscripts should be structured in the following order:

Title Page
- Title of the manuscript.
- Full names, affiliations, and email addresses of all authors.
- Indicate the corresponding author.
- ORCID iDs for all authors (optional but encouraged).

Abstract
- A concise summary of the manuscript in 150-250 words, covering the objectives, methods, key findings, and conclusions.

Keywords
- Include 4-6 relevant keywords that reflect the content of the manuscript.

Introduction
- State the background and objectives of the study clearly, including the research problem and rationale.

Methods
- Provide a detailed description of the research design, participants, interventions, and statistical analyses used.

Results
- Present the findings of the study clearly and logically, supported by tables, figures, or charts as necessary.

Discussion
- Interpret the results, compare them with previous research, and highlight the significance and implications of the findings.

Conclusion
- Provide a brief summary of the key findings and suggest directions for future research.

Acknowledgments (optional)
- Include acknowledgments for any grants, funding, or assistance received during the research.

- Follow the APA 7th Edition style for referencing. Detailed information can be found in the References Guidelines.
4. Figures and Tables
- Figures and Tables should be placed within the text at appropriate locations, not at the end.
- Each figure and table must have a descriptive title and legend.
- Figures should be high-resolution images (300 dpi or higher).
- Ensure all figures and tables are referenced within the text and are numbered sequentially.
5. Ethical Considerations
- Plagiarism: All submissions must be original and unpublished work. Plagiarism in any form will not be tolerated, and manuscripts found to have significant overlap with previous publications will be rejected.
- Ethical Approval: For research involving human or animal subjects, ethical approval must be obtained and clearly stated in the manuscript. Authors should include the approval number and the name of the approving body.
- Conflicts of Interest: Authors must declare any conflicts of interest in their submission. If no conflicts exist, please include a statement declaring this in the manuscript.
6. Citation and Referencing
All references should follow the APA (7th Edition) citation style. Below are examples of common reference types:
- Journal Articles:
- Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Year). Title of article. Title of Journal, volume number (issue number), pages. https://doi.org/xx.xxx/xxx
- Books:
- Author, A. A. (Year). Title of work. Publisher.
- Conference Papers:
- Author, A. A. (Year). Title of paper. In B. B. Chair (Ed.), Proceedings of the Conference Title (pp. xx–xx). Publisher. https://doi.org/xx.xxx/xxx

7. Submission Process
- All manuscripts must be submitted through the JIIM online submission system.
- Authors should ensure that all co-authors have approved the manuscript and its submission.
- Upon submission, authors will receive a tracking number, and they can monitor the status of their submission through the online system.
8. Peer Review Process
- JIIM follows a double-blind peer review process, where both the reviewers and authors remain anonymous throughout the process.
- Authors should expect a decision within 2-4 weeks of submission. If revisions are needed, authors will have a designated period to revise and resubmit their manuscripts.
9. Article Processing Charges (APC)
- Upon acceptance of the manuscript, an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 135 USD is required to cover the publication costs.
- Payment methods include Stripe, PayPal, and Bank Transfer.
- Authors from low-income countries can apply for an APC waiver based on the World Bank country classification.
10. Copyright and Open Access
- All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This allows for the free distribution, sharing, and adaptation of the work, as long as proper attribution is given to the original authors.
- Authors retain the copyright of their work and have full control over its distribution.
