Editorial Process
Metaverse Science, Society and Law follows a transparent and rigorous editorial process to ensure high academic quality, fairness, and timely publication. The journal adheres to the principles of Diamond Open Access - offering free publication to authors and free access to readers - while maintaining international standards of peer-reviewed publishing.
1. Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system. All manuscripts must comply with the journal’s formatting and ethical guidelines.
2. Initial Editorial Screening
The Editor-in-Chief or assigned Section Editor conducts an initial review to assess:
- Alignment with the journal’s scope
- Originality and relevance
- Compliance with formatting and ethical standards
- Plagiarism screening using automated tools
Manuscripts that do not meet basic quality or ethical requirements may be rejected without review (desk rejection).
3. Peer Review
Manuscripts passing the initial screening are sent for double-blind peer review to at least two independent experts. Reviewers evaluate the submission based on originality, methodology, clarity, significance, and scientific soundness.
The review process typically takes 2–4 weeks, and authors are notified of any delays.
4. Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers’ reports, the Editor may issue one of the following decisions:
- Accept
- Minor revision
- Major revision
- Reject
Authors receive anonymized reviewer comments with clear editorial recommendations.
5. Revision
Authors revise their manuscript and submit a response letter detailing how each reviewer’s comment has been addressed. Revisions are re-evaluated by the editor and, if necessary, sent back to reviewers.
Revised submissions must be returned within a reasonable timeframe:
- Minor revisions: 1–2 weeks
- Major revisions: 3–4 weeks
6. Final Acceptance
Once a manuscript is deemed acceptable, it is formally accepted for publication. The final version undergoes:
- Copyediting
- Metadata generation
- Typesetting and formatting
- Assignment of a DOI
7. Continuous Article Publishing (CAP)
Accepted articles are published immediately online as soon as final checks are completed—without waiting for issue compilation. This model ensures rapid access, increased discoverability, and faster citation opportunities.
8. Indexing and Archiving
All published articles are:
- Assigned a DOI via Crossref
- Indexed in appropriate scholarly databases
- Archived in secure repositories (PKP PN and LOCKSS)
